A Writing in Appearances is a sensitive chronicle that journeys to the heart of Colombia's most significant archaeological site: Teyuna, the "Lost City" of the Tayrona. Almost fifty years after its discovery by treasure hunters, the film returns to this sacred territory to confront the scars left by the colonial gaze and the gold rush that first revealed it. Through restored archival footage and encounters with the Indigenous guardians of the land, a dialogue is woven between the visible and invisible worlds: between the image that captures through knowledge and the worldview that resists through wisdom. The thickness of the jungle speaks, and time folds in on itself, there where the gaze turns back on us and invites us, in our green chiaroscuros, to become the landscape.
